It is with great pride and honor that I serve as the Mustang Horizon Intermediate Principal. I am Deana Ellis and it is truly a privilege to have the opportunity to be a part of your child’s/children's educational experiences.  I have been in education for almost two decades with a variety of experiences, both classroom and administration, that have brought me to where I am today.  I began my career in the classroom, teaching grades 3, 4, and 5. It was here that I found my passion for serving students as individuals and ensuring that each one receives the education they deserve.  Wanting to serve on a larger scale, I then became an assistant principal in Putnam City, for three years.  In 2020, I transitioned to Mustang where I have spent two years as Horizon Intermediate’s assistant principal. I love the Mustang Community and all that it stands for!

I am married to my amazing husband Joe, who works in Putnam City’s administration. We have three wonderful children: Grace, Samuel, and William. We enjoy traveling, especially to beaches and mountains.

My goal is not only for your child to be successful in their educational journey, but for them to know they are valued as an important part of our school. This begins with building positive relationships. My door is always open to students and families. Feel free to call me, email me or stop by to see me for anything you need.

Assistant Principal

My name is Jennifer Meacham and I’m elated to serve as your new Assistant Principal!

I look forward to getting to know each of you, as well as all the amazing things we will experience and accomplish this upcoming school year!

This will be my 28th year in education. I started my career teaching middle school and worked as a reading/math interventionist at the elementary level as well as a district instructional coach. I have served the last seven years as an elementary administrator.

I am a passionate educator grounded in the belief that all students deserve to have a school setting that is safe, inclusive, and respectful. School should allow children the opportunity to identify and develop their own skills and talents. I come to MHI with a deep commitment to fostering an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. I will strive to build strong collaborative relationships with families and all stakeholders, as this is essential in students’ success!

I firmly believe in the power of open communication and partnership between home and school. I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, ideas you may have. Your input is invaluable as we work together to provide the best possible educational experiences for our students.

I am excited to embark on this journey with you and to contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the Mustang school community!
